PSA Scholarship Program
This program was created in order to have a supplemental program to the USA Swimming Outreach Program. The USAS Outreach Program provides a reduced cost for dues and insurance for persons that qualify for reduced lunch and food stamp programs. PSA decided that a supplemental program would be good in order to assist with the fees involved with our club, as well as suits, goggles and cap needs swimmers may have. This was intended to assist those in need; supporting and encouraging those kids that would not otherwise be able to join our program. Because this is a new program, we do expect that other assistance opportunities may be available at some point, such as assisting swimmers that qualify for higher-level meets that come with high expenses. Therefore, this program is not only for a specific income level or group, it is available to those in need of assistance, whether that be to get started in lessons in our program, or to help fund travel expenses for Sectional or Zone meets that they have qualified for.
If you are applying with PSA for the Fishie program, we ask that you cover the USAS fees when you register your swimmer (s). This ensures that your dues are paid and insurance coverage is in place. We expect the determination process to take approximately one week, so this will allow your swimmer to swim the first week on “trial”. This time will allow you and your swimmer the opportunity to be sure our program is a good “fit” for you. Once you are notified of what assistance, if any, we are able to provide, the rest of the details can be completed at that time.
We do ask that you “repay” PSA in any way you can. This can be by committing to volunteer a certain amount of time with the Fishie program (monitoring), or assisting in any computer work, phone calling, or assisting with PSA events, or helping the “recycle for scholarships” program that provides the assistance.
